Dog daycare can provide an excellent alternative for your dog to those long, boring days while you are at work. This active environment allows dogs to interact and exercise with their own kind, which can help them to maintain a state of calm balance while at home.
Did you know that Grey Wolves can travel from 10-30 miles a day exploring their territory and searching for food?
Did you know that sled dogs can run over 100 miles per day?
The reality is that our modern society is not designed to meet the physical, mental, and emotional needs of dogs. Our lives can be spread thin with the demands of work and family, and many dogs are lucky if they get out of the house for a couple of 15 minute walks a day.
Simply put, a life behind four walls, limited to a single yard or a couple quick walks falls short of meeting the biological and instinctual needs of the canine.
Traditional daycare programs provide some relief, yet they still struggle to help many dogs achieve behavioral wellness.
In the traditional free-play environment, many dogs spend the day getting wound up and practicing over aroused and un-controlled behavior. The staff spends the day “policing” the dogs and making sure things don’t get too out of hand. In many such facilities the ratio can be 1 person supervising up to 30 or more dogs.
We knew we could do better.
Structured Daycare is designed to help you dog achieve behavioral wellness and balance by providing a structure to meet their physical, mental and instinctual needs.
We limit our program to 15 dogs per day and have up to two attendants on staff at a time, far exceeding the staff/dog ratio at most facilities.
At the start of each day, one attendant supervises the group, while the other takes dogs either individually or in small groups for structured exercise. These activities can include:
Obedience and trick training
Scent discrimination work
We select activities based on each dog’s individual instinctual (breed) needs, temperament, energy level, and age.
Our mission is to provide an environment that honors the nature of the dog and provides them with the outlets they need to feel physical, mentally and instinctually content at days end.
