Therapy Dog International Test

Therapy Dogs International is a volunteer organization dedicated to regulating, testing and registering therapy dogs and their volunteer handlers for the purpose of visiting nursing homes, hospitals, schools, other facilities and wherever therapy dogs are needed.

TDI registers all breeds of dogs. Some dogs have pedigrees, while others have been adopted from local shelters or are rescue dogs.

To belong to Therapy Dogs International (TDI®) all dogs must be tested and evaluated by a Certified TDI Evaluator. A dog must be a minimum of one (1) year of age and have a sound temperament. Each dog must pass a TDI temperament evaluation for suitability to become a Therapy Dog. The test will also include the evaluation of the dog’s behavior around people with the use of some type of service equipment (wheelchairs, crutches, etc.).

Please read through the TDI Brochures below:

TDI Testing Requirements:

The test is limited to 12 participants.

The next testing date is July 31st at 1:00PM.

The cost is $25 to be paid on the day of the test (can be paid by cash, check or credit card).

There are no refunds for failing the test.

Testing begins the moment the evaluator sees your dog. Dogs who are reactive or aggressive in the lobby or who are not under their handler’s control prior to the start of the test will be asked to leave.

Testimonials

“I just wanted to take a minute to give an update on Remy, our GSD, who was there for a boot camp in early October. We brought her in with high hopes of bringing home a better mannered girl and I can say without hesitation our expectations were exceeded on every level. . .” -Carrie Cimini Mills
